Some Thoughts on the Current State of Recruiting....
Ever since the bursting of the dot com bubble, the recruiting profession has largely remained in a tailspin. As mass layoffs occurred over the last seven years, recruiting jobs took at least their share of the hits. From corporations to executive search firms, the number of people in recruiting roles was drastically downsized. As the economy strengthened and companies felt the effects of years of reduced hiring, talent was once again in high demand and in short supply. This is especially true of Recruiters.
Today, the terms of the recruiting profession have changed (talent acquisition, talent wars, etc.), recruiting mediums have dramatically changed (incl. internet job boards and sourcing tools), and internal processes have been automated (e.g. automated applicant tracking systems). Many recruiting practices have evolved more out of necessity than a drive for bettering a flawed program.
Yet much still remains the same. Corporate recruiters are often over worked and underpaid. Contingency search firms tend to toss too many under-qualified and not-well-screened applicants at a job opening in hopes that something will stick. The old guard executive search firms still employ non-career Recruiters to execute the same old out-dated and time consuming processes while charging the client a premium price. Of course, some agencies have wrapped themselves in new terms, consultants, advisors, etc. Yet the majority of their staff is inexperienced and the longevity of employment is still less than 1 ½ years on average.
It is here where CWVI differentiates itself.
To compete and win in today’s war for talent, a corporation’s recruiting efforts must be better than that of their competitors. Job postings, internal referrals, and job boards all have their place in a corporation’s overall talent acquisition program, but to find, attract and hire key leadership talent takes the capability to deliver excellence in recruiting. CrossWind Ventures delivers on that excellence…and differentiates itself through that excellence.
We can sum that differentiation up in one word, passion.
We are passionate about recruiting. For us, it is a chosen profession. Recruiting is not simply something that we fell into or decided to try after we retired from some other line of work. It is a profession in which we excel and constantly strive to hone our already sharp skills. Passion is our differentiator. All of our recruiters have at least 10 current years of experience in recruiting. Most of us have worked both the corporate and third-party sides of the desk…successfully. We are in it for the long haul. As such, we have worked hard to establish a strong and highly ethical reputation in our profession. Our passion makes us proud, ethical, committed, aggressive and successful.
Because we are pre-disposed to act, CrossWind Ventures finds candidates faster than traditional retained search firms. While most retained firms spend the first couple weeks of any assignment working on a position description, CrossWind Ventures will already have been recruiting on your behalf and delivering top-tier candidates to you.
